* Student newspaper, The Ebbtide, wins award from College Journalism Association

The college's student newspaper, The Ebbtide, is the winner of the General Excellence Award from the Washington Community College Journalism Association.  The students also brought home four other individual awards. Lavi Aulck won a sports news writing award for his piece on the women's soccer team defense; Daniel Berman won a photo essay award for his pictures of the Dalai Lama's visit.; Daniel Berman won a sports photo award for his front-page image of the women's soccer team defense; and David Kasnic won a portrait award for a shot of a tennis player. They will be honored at the Washington Community College Journalism Association awards luncheon which will be held in at the college on Saturday, May 16.  The featured speaker will be Robert Hernandez, director for development of seattletimes.com. Students will come from as far away as Spokane Falls and as nearby as Edmonds.  The other big winners this year were Olympic College and Pierce College at Fort Steilacoom.
