SCC Names Lan Zhang and Elise Brady As Co-Women's Tennis Players of the Week:

Shoreline Community College on Tuesday named freshmen Lan Zhang and Elise Brady as Co-Women's Tennis Players of the Week for their efforts the past week.

300_0448.JPG300_0444.JPGThe pair teamed-up for the best SCC effort of week, dropping a 6-2, 6-3 match to the doubles team from Treasure Valley Community College in Ontario, Oregon. 

The Lady Dolphins are playing short handed this season, with only 4 players. SCC will complete their regular season this weekend as they face Treasure Valley Community College on Saturday at Shoreview Park and then play Bellevue College on Sunday at Shoreview as well. Both matches start at 10:00am.



SCC Names Yassar Khan and Shota Murai As Co-Men's Tennis Players of the Week
Shoreline Community College On Tuesday named sophomore Yassar Khan and freshman Shota Murai, as Co-Men's Tennis Players of the Week.

300_0472.JPGKhan was undefeated for the week, winning single's matches against Spokane, Treasure Valley and the College of Idaho while winning three matches with Murai as the #1 SCC Doubles Team. 

Shota was 1-2 in singles, but his victory over the #2 player from Spokane help secure a 5-4 upset win for the Dolphins. Plus, he teamed with Khan to go 3-0 in doubles combination and revenged their only defeat of the season300_0587.JPG against the CCs of Spokane.

SCC finishes the regular season this weekend, as they face Treasure Valley on Saturday at Shoreview Park and then play the University of Washington Club Team on Sunday.
SCC Men's Tennis Defeats Spokane On Road Trip, Women's Team Still Winless
The Shoreline Community College Tennis Teams traveled to Spokane, WA and Ontario, OR over the weekend to compete in matches, the SCC Men's Tean won their match over the CCs of Spokane but dropped two other matches and the SCC Women's Team remained winless on the season, losing to Spokane and Treasure Valley CC.

300_0587.JPGThe SCC Men's Team defeated the Community College of Spokane on Thursday 5-4. SCC was helped by two forfeits due to Spokane injuries. SCC won at #1, #3 and #6 singles (#6 by default) and at #1 and #3 doubles (#3 by default). Yassar Khan at #1 singles and Dylan Vickers at $3 singes picked up wins, while Khan and partner Shota Murai won at #1 Doubles. 

The SCC Women's Team, with only four players, lost 9-0 to the CCs of Spokane, defaulting in 3 matches due to the lack of players. Sami Towne, SCC #1 player, lost 6-4 in the opening set of her match, but otherwise, SCC was dominated in the match.

At Treasure Valley Community College on Saturday, the SCC's Men's300_0417.JPG Team lost 6-3, as Khan and Richard Rosavoc (#4 singles) picked up singles victories and Khan and Murai picked up the win at #1 doubles. The SCC Women's Team lost 7-0, with the #2 Doubles Team of Elise Brady and Lan Zhang putting up the best fight, dropping a 6-2, 6-3 match. 

Also on Saturday, the SCC Men's Team lost a second match to the College Idaho, 6-3. As Yassar Khan and Shota Murai proved all of the victories for SCC, winning at #1 and #2 singles and #1 doubles. 

The SCC Men's Team is now 2-4 on the season, while the women's team is 0-5. SCC plays at home on Saturday against Treasure Valley Community College and finishes the regular season on Sunday as the women host Bellevue and the men's team plays the Un. of Washington Club Team at the UW.
SCC Names Lan Zhang as Women's Tennis Player of the Week
300_0448.JPGShoreline Community College On Thursday named Lan Zhang as the "Women's Tennis Player of the Week".

Zhang, an international student from Pingdingshan, China, was the only SCC player to a win a game on Saturday against the Community Colleges of Spokane in the SCC's 9-0 defeat. Lan is also just a first year player, learning the sport as she plays for SCC.

SCC Women's Tennis travels to Spokane, WA and Ontario, OR this weekend to face the Community Colleges of Spokane and Treasure Valley Community College in matches.
SCC Names Yassar Khan As Men's Tennis Player of the Week
300_0472.JPGShoreline Community College On Thursday named Yassar Khan at the Shoreline Community College Men's Tennis Player of the Week.

Khan scored the only victory in the SCC's 8-1 defeat at the hands of College of Spokane on Saturday. Yassar, SCC #1 player, defeated the #1 player from the CCS 6-3, 6-4.

SCC travels to Spokane and Ontario, OR this weekend to face the CC of Spokane, Treasure Valley Community College and the College of Idaho in matches.

SCC Men's Tennis Team Gets First Win of Season, Women Remain Winless
300_0472.JPGThe Shoreline Community College Men's Tennis Team defeated Skagit Valley College on Tuesday at Shoreview Park 6-3. SCC did benefit from two SVC forfeits at #6 Singles and #3 Doubles, but SCC did claim victories at #3, 4, 5 singles and #2 doubles. SCC #1 men's player Yassar Khan lost a 2 hour and 40 minute marathon against defending NWAACC Champion Riley Newman, 3-6, 6-3, 7-6 (7-1). Dylan Vickers, Richard Rosavoc and Max Larson won their single matches and Vickers and Larson won their doubles match.

The SCC women, with only four players were defeated by the SVC women 9-0, SVC got forfeits at #5 & 6 singles and #3 doubles. SCC's Sami Towne lost a tough set 7-5 to Skagit's #1 player, but dropped the 2nd set 6-1.

SCC takes a long road trip this weekend, traveling to Spokane to face the CCs of Spokane, then traveling to Ontraio, OR to face Treasure Valley CC and the College of Idaho.

SCC Tennis Drops Matches To The CCs of Spokane
SCC Tennis opened its home season on Saturday at Shoreview Park and dropped two matches to the Community Colleges of Spokane.

V6 Tennis.jpgIn the men's match, SCC lost 8-1 as SCC #1 singles player, Yassar Khan was the only winner for SCC, defeating his CCS opponent 6-3, 6-4. But SCC showed promised at #4 singles and #6 singles, as Richard Rasovas lost a 7-6, 7-5 match and Max Larson dropped a 6-4, 6-4 match. SCC's #1 double team of Khan and Shota Murai and Yassar Khan dropped a 7-5, 6-2 match, but led the 1st set, 5-2 before letting the set slide away. D30_6622_sc.jpg

The short-handed SCC Women's Team lost 9-0, but only had 3 players and had to forfeit 6 matches. SCC's Lan Zhang was the only SCC player to win a game.

The SCC Women's match against Bellevue on Sunday was rained out and will be rescheduled. The SCC Men's Team is 0-2 on the season and the SCC women are 0-3.

The SCC teams play again today at 1:00pm against Skagit Valley College at Shoreview Park.
SCC Names Sami Towne and Shota Murai As "Tennis Players of the Week"
Shoreline Community College On Friday named Sami Towne as Women's Tennis Player of the Week" and Shota Murai as Men's Tennis Player of the Week.

Towne dropped her first match of the week against Skagit Valley, but came back last Sunday and beat Bellevue College's #1 Player in SCC's only win in singles so far this season.

Shota Murai against Skagit Valley won at #3 Singles, in a classic match against a tough opponent, 7-6(12-10), 4-6, 12-10.

SCC Women's Tennis is 0-2 on the season while the SCC Men are 0-1. Both teams play the Community Colleges of Spokane tomorrow at 10:00am on the Shoreview Park courts. The SCC Women's Tennis team also plays Bellevue College on Sunday at 1:00pm at Shoreview.

The SCC Men's Tennis Team lost a tough 5-4 match as the Dolphins showed dominance in the lower seeds, winning 3-6 singles, but dropping matches at 1 and 2, but SVC won the match in doubles play, sweeping all three matches.

The SCC Women's Team, playing short-handed with only 4 players, lost 9-0, having to forfeit 3 matches. SCC only won games in #2 singles.
