Gidget Terpstra was appointed to the Board of Trustees at Shoreline Community College in July 2004 and reappointed in October 2008. Terpstra served as District Homeless Education Liaison and Readiness to Learn Family (RTL) Advocate for the Shoreline Public Schools and received the Washington Award for Excellence in Education in 1999 (awarded by the Washington State Governor and the State Superintendent of Public Instruction) for her RTL work with Kellogg Middle School and Shorecrest High School. Terpstra also served as a Trustee and Board Secretary on the Shoreline Public Schools Foundation from 1994 until 2003.
Terpstra, a longtime volunteer with numerous organizations, continues to serve her community and is actively involved with the Northshore/Shoreline Community Network, the Human Services Task Force Advisory Committee, the City of Shoreline and the Faces of Shoreline Advisory Committee.
Terpstra and her husband, Dennis have lived in Shoreline for over 30 years and have two grown children.
