Orientation and advising are services that can make your experience at Shoreline more fulfilling and efficient.

While participation in either service is not required, the College strongly recommends that students follow one of the orientation pathways to better understand the college.

Students are strongly encouraged to take advantage of advising services to help assure their time and money bring the best possible outcomes.

Studies show that students who use these services are more likely to be successful.

Orientation and Advising Services

Orientation is an opportunity to learn about the college and how it can best serve you.

Advisors explain the class schedule, the catalog, services available on campus as well as college policies and

procedures. Orientation is the first step in an ongoing dialogue to help match your goals with the right college classes, programs and resources.

Every student at Shoreline is assigned an advisor and orientation is a great place to
learn who that person will be, how to contact them and what to expect.

If you need or want an evaluation of previous college transcripts or an assessment of math and English requirements, orientation is a quick and convenient time to get that done.

Following an orientation session, many students are ready to sign up for classes and start their college experience. At Shoreline, class registration is available immediately following orientation, with advisors on hand to help make sure your first step is the right one.

Participating in orientation will maximize your ability to succeed in your studies,

while avoiding unnecessary difficulties later. While orientations are not required

to register for classes, we strongly recommend that you take part in one.
