Distance Learning Information | Business Administration and Law

Hi, Everyone! I teach law and business classes full-time at Shoreline, in the business division. My academic background includes a Juris Doctorate with a focus in Public and Private International Law as well as Technology Transfer (my graduate thesis and international law journal article were on Regulatory Schemes Effecting Technology Transfer to the People's Republic of China). I also hold a Master of Arts degree in International Relations and Business.

Before beginning teaching at Shoreline in the Fall of 2004 I worked in law firms in IL, NY, CA and Seattle. I have extensive experience in the area of complex commercial litigation, particularly, in cases involving a wide variety of legal fields including international anti-trust, consumer protection, telecommunications, patent and trademark as well as environmental law, criminal defense, administrative law, medical malpractice, labor disputes, age discrimination, personal injury and family law. Prior to relocating to Seattle in 1993 I also taught Political Science (Constitutional Law, American Government and International Relations) at community colleges in California.

On a personal note, I am married to an incredible woman. She is currently in Boston getting her Masters degree in International Relations and Theology. We devote much of our free time to service projects such as volunteering with orphans in Honduras, Habitat for Humanity, Tent City and fundraising for organizations such as Mary Bridge Children's Hospital in Tacoma.

I am also an avid triathlete and bicyclist. I haven't owned my own car for more than 8 years and am planning to bicycle from Seattle to WA D.C. during the summer of 2007 to raise money for the American Lung Association of WA.

Also during the summer of 2007 I will be leading a Shoreline class to Honduras, titled "Entrepreneurship in the Developing World." In addition to studying the various models for entrepreneurship in Honduras we will meet civic leaders, NGO representatives, government officials and a variety of business owners. We also plan to do service projects there as well.
