CNC Machinist Program

This is an intensive program designed to prepare qualified individuals for entry into the job market as a CNC Machinist (Computer Numerical Control). Instruction covers programming and basic set up and operation of CNC machines, blueprint reading, shop mathematics, machine tool theory, inspection, surface plate techniques, and Statistical Process Control (SPC). Students will be involved in the production and machining of industry parts.

 

CNC program nationally accredited

Shoreline's CNC Machinist program gets a 4.0 is  accredited by the National Institute for Metalworking Skills (NIMS).

 

"Getting this accreditation is really good news for our students," said SCC's CNC instructor Keith Smith.  "With industry using the credentials to recruit, hire and promote machinists, and with few other programs in the state providing the NIMS stamp of approval, Shoreline students are ahead of the game."  More...

Degrees/Certificates

A range of degree and certificate options are available, including a two-year, Applied Associate in Arts and

Sciences Degree in CNC Technology, a three-quarter Certificate of Proficiency and one quarter Certificate of Completion.

Assistance available

The CNC Machinist program is one of the four I-BEST (Integrated Basic Education and Skills Training) programs at Shoreline Community College. I-BEST programs have two instructors in the same classroom to teach technical and basic skills.  Students who need to improve their English language or brush up on math can also get the help they need while studying in the career field of their choice.
