Introduction assignment <--This is a graded component of your homework.

2) *WAMAP* sections can be found at
www.wamap.org.

***Note: These assignments are
subject to revision**. I will announce any revisions in class and will
indicate a revision with a note next to the assignment above.

** Homework Policy:**
There will be two components of your homework: A
paper & pencil (p&p) portion, and an online portion. Both portions will be due
on Fridays by noon with some exceptions. The online portion will be
through a free online program called WAMAP.
(See the Syllabus for WAMAP registration.)

P&p homework will be graded out of 10 points; 4 points for completion, 6 points for the correctness of three selected problems (2 pts. each). The online homework in WAMAP will be submitted online and graded electronically. You will receive immediate feedback once you submit it. You can redo any missed problems up to a total of five times each in order to improve your grade before the deadline. You do not have to sit in front of a computer to do the homework. Feel free to print the assignment, complete it on paper, and then go to a computer to submit your answers. Be sure to work in a notebook and write complete solutions.

At the end of the quarter, the lowest p&p homework grade and the 2 lowest WAMAP grades will be dropped for final grade calculations.

In order to receive credit for each assignment, it must be complete, on-time, and meet the following criteria:

* **Problem-solving steps must
be shown clearly** for all problems. I will not give full credit unless
I see your work. Simply writing the answer is not enough!

* On standard size (8" x 11") paper with no fringed edges.

* Pages must be stapled in order if there is more than 1 page.

* Answers to word problems must be in complete sentences.

* Graphs must be drawn with a straight edge and axes must be labeled and scaled.

* **WARNING:** Here are some
things that I will be very picky about when grading particular problems:
1) Correct use of equal signs, 2) Correct use of parenthesis when needed, 3)
Including units in your answer where appropriate (Is the answer in feet, pounds,
seconds,....What is it?), 4) Defining your variables and answering in a complete
sentence when you are working through an application problem, 5) Correct use of
approximation symbol or excessive rounding

**To Be Assigned at a Later Time (Note: These are subject to change):**

**§4.6:**
To be determined

**§5.1:**
