America and the World in a Presidential Election Year

How do electoral politics, especially in a Presidential election year, affect the way in which the U.S. interacts with the rest of the world? To help us discuss that subject we are joined by experts in two critical regions and two policy areas: U.S. relations with China and with Europe, and U.S. trade policy and U.S. defense policy.

Global Food and Farming Issues
Food is fundamental to human existence much like water, housing and energy. Issues of food and food production (or farming) are viewed through so many different lenses: culture, development, science and health, economics and politics. This series explores some of the key issues that dominate global food and farming today.

Global Eyes Series, Winter Quarter 2013

Brownbag discussions with students, faculty, staff and members of the off-campus community about recent travel,
research or service with a global focus.  Topics include:  Rapid Changes in Burma/Myanmar, Struggles of Migrant
Laborers in Asia, and Online Education in India.

Speaker Joseph Borich (President, Washington State China Relations Council) addresses topics such as: Who are China's new leaders? What does it mean for Chinese society? What will it mean for the rest of the world?
