The International Education staff have an office located in the Pagoda Union Building (PUB) room 9303. It is a division of Shoreline Community College that oversees international student outreach, orientation, partnerships, immigration, academic advising and study abroad programs.

Diana Sampson

With a master's degree in Counseling Psychology from Gonzaga University, Diana was an advising and counseling faculty member at Shoreline for more than a decade.  Diana has lived in China and traveled extensively. She was directly involved with Shoreline's International Education from 2000-05 and is excited to lead the program.

Samira Pardanani

Samira believes in providing exceptional service to students and partners and making the admissions and immigration areas for international students easier to understand and navigate! Before joining Shoreline, Samira was an International Student/Scholar Advisor at the University of Michigan in Ann Arbor. She has two Masters degrees - in German and in Teaching English as A Second Language. Originally from India, she has also lived and studied in Europe and speaks several languages. When not at work, she likes spending time with her family and pursuing various hobbies.

Harumi is originally from Japan and earned A.A.A.S degree in the Business Technology program at Shoreline Community College. She joined the office in 2005 and has been assisting the admissions and immigration areas of our office since 2010.  She loves yoga, watching movies, and spending time with her dog and cat.

Cassie

Cassie Kwon
Manager, Student Engagement

Cassie manages programs that facilitate student engagement and campus internationalization.  She has experience working with students both as a college student and post-graduation, including being a Resident Advisor and AmeriCorps Student Success Specialist.  She graduated from Linfield College with a degree in anthropology and minor in Japanese.  She enjoys learning about cultures and languages and has studied abroad and traveled to Japan and South Korea.

Sharon was born and raised in Seattle and has been a resident of Shoreline for over 20 years where she raised her two sons. Her working career started in the transportation industry with a global air express company and after many years working and growing with them she now enjoys working within her community here at Shoreline. She enjoys gardening, movies, shopping and going to fun events around Seattle and other cities.

I was born in the U.S., yet I have traveled in Western Europe, Mexico, and Canada. For a few years I lived in England and also in Mexico enjoying the cultural diversity. My major in the university was Islamic Studies. I enjoy working in our exciting Shoreline community that offers so much to the students through our International Programs. I assist the new students with the admission process and have a special interest in the sponsored students.

Bilen is originally from Turkey. Based on her experiences, she believes that being an international student opens the doors to a personal journey giving greater cultural enrichment! She holds a B.A. from the University of Hacettepe in Instruction and Curriculum and a Certificate of Human Resources from University of Washington. Her journey started in the education field in Turkey as an Instructional Designer and it is continuing in the International Education department at Shoreline Community College.

 Marci Fradkin

Marci Fradkin
Associate Director, International Outreach
Marci is working with international students and their families to introduce them to Shoreline. She has worked at three universities including Texas A&M, Humboldt State, and Drexel University working with international student and study abroad. She has also been a staff person for the US Peace Headquarter on the Asia Desk. She has also worked as a Tour Guide for American and International Students. She was a Peace Corps Volunteer in Kenya from 1994-1996, and also has lived in the Middle East for three years. Marci has a degree in Near Eastern Studies from the University of Arizona.

Bo Fu

Bo Fu has lived in the United States since 1995 and has a master's degree in International Studies from Peking University. Bo lectured on International Politics at Shandong University and taught Chinese at Shoreline Community College. He has been actively participating in international education cooperation between the United States and China. Bo believes that global education, engagement and awareness will help protect the environment and improve the well-being of human society. Bo loves traveling, road trips, and classical music.

Before joining Shoreline, she worked for the Office of International Education at Metropolitan State College of Denver and the Confucius Institute at Community College of Denver. Angela has a Master's degree in Journalism from the University of Colorado at Boulder. She enjoys traveling around the world, working with people from different cultures and doing fun activities with her family.

Kris joined Shoreline Community College in January 2014. Previously, she worked as a Student Immigration Advisor at The University of Texas at Austin, where she earned a Bachelor’s degree in Geography. She enjoys helping students understand U.S. immigration laws so they can be successful in their academic goals. When not at work, she likes spending time with her husband, two daughters, and many pets.

Cynthia Okawara

Cynthia has been advising at Shoreline since 2006. She comes with years of experience in international education, including five years of advising. She loves helping students achieve their goals and become successful. She believes student involvement is the key to success! Cynthia was born in Seattle, but lived most of her early years in Minnesota. She has a B.A. from the UW in English/Elementary Education and an M.Ed. from Western Washington University. She lived in Japan for five years and speaks some Japanese. She has also traveled to Korea, Thailand, and Malaysia. She is married and has two kids.

Tiffany Meier

Tiffany is originally from America's Dairyland, Wisconsin of course! She is a graduate of Beloit College with a bachelor of arts in psychology. As an undergraduate, she also had the opportunity to study abroad in both Estonia and Morocco. While abroad, she was able to pick up a little Arabic and Estonian, which allowed her to speak with her host families as they spoke no English! Tiffany was recently awarded a master's degree in education and student affairs administration (M.Ed.) from Western Washington University. She also has experience advising international students at Western Washington University and another nearby community college.

John has been an international student advisor since 2004 and has lived in Washington since 2007.  He is originally from Tennessee, where he attended university and received a Bachelor's in Economics and a Master's in ESL Education.  He has traveled extensively round the world, and has lived and taught English as a foreign language in Poland for one year and Japan for two years. Finally he settled down in Seattle because of the people, culture of the area, and the mild climate.  He loves meeting with students and helping them through their educational journey in the U.S.

Jessica Galán

Academic Advisor

Jessica is originally from California, and settled in Seattle in 2000 after earning a Bachelor's degree in Educational Studies from the University of Oregon, and a Master's degree in Student Development Administration from Seattle University. Jessica has been advising international students in the Seattle area since 2004. She has lived and studied in the Basque Country in Spain, where she has family, and has traveled to over 15 different countries around the world. Jessica is excited to get to know students at Shoreline and help them achieve their educational goals in the U.S.
