Financial Literacy Seminar:  Smart Money Skills for College

The Global Affairs Center, the Worldly Philosophers and Dismal Scientists' Society of Shoreline Community College, and BECU (a community credit union) hosted a seminar that addressed, among other things, personal budgeting tips, ways to protect yourself from identify theft and fraud, and how to increase your future spending power and learn to build and manage credit.

Y.P. Chan:  Clean Energy Technologies

Y.P. Chan is the Chief Operating Officer at Delaware Power Management Systems Corp, an advanced electric vehicle (EV) power train system solutions provider.  Mr. Chan spoke on three clean energy alternatives:  solar energy, wind energy, and electric cars, as part of Earth Week activities at SCC.

Campus Discussion:  Haiti Earthquake Situation

A public meeting on the situation and relief efforts underway in Haiti since that nation was rocked by an earthquake measuring 7.0 on the Richter scale on Wednesday, January 12.  The program included an update on the situation in Haiti, the response of public and private organizations, and a discussion of how individuals can help. The meeting was attended by students, faculty, and staff , as well as citizens in  the surrounding community.
