Global Affairs Center

The Global Affairs Center at Shoreline Community College is a non-partisan organization whose mission is to encourage critical thinking and engagement on global issues such as humanitarian assistance, development, the environment and commerce.  We hope that our programs lead to sustained personal involvement in global affairs.

Upcoming GAC Events (admission free):
Great Discussions 2013 May 2 - June 6 (six Thursdays) 6 - 8 p.m. 1010M (Boardroom) 21st Century Global Issues.  Various topics.  Students can receive two credits for participating.		Global Eyes Series: Spring Quarter 2013: May 1, 15, 29 12:30 - 1:30 p.m. 1010M (Boardroom) Brown bag discussions with students, faculty, staff and members of the off-campus community about recent travel, research or service with a global focus.
Upcoming debate sponsored by WPDSS Student Club:
Student Debate: "Drone Use at Home and Abroad" Tuesday, May 28, 12:30 - 1:55 p.m., Quiet Dining Room 9208 Contact: Reuben Steelquist, 206-459-0788 This is a student debate on the pros and cons of the expanding use of drones both domestically and internationally by corporations, as well as local and national governments. Drones promise enhanced security to some but at the cost of privacy, personal security and sovereignty to others.
