Core Beliefs
At Learning Center North, we believe all humans want to be educated, to garner the
skills needed to find meaning in life (of which skills like reading, writing and math
are a part). We also believe in the ineffable worth of every person. Our program
is built off of these values, recognizing students as whole people with unique needs
and goals.
Mission
Our mission is to provide holistic services that empower whole students to be successful
learners and achieve academic, employment, and personal success and self-sufficiency.
Our Services
Our program provides students with the following wrap-around services and support:
Academic Instruction (basic skills development and GED/college prep)
Comprehensive Case Management
Employment Services
Eligibility, Cost, and Attendance Requirements
We serve youth ages 16 to 21 who have not completed high school but want to earn their
GED and go on to college, technical training and/or employment. Our program is provided
free of charge. LCN students are also Shoreline Community College students, earning
college credits.
Enroll Today
We enroll students on an ongoing basis. To get started, simply call (206) 533-6733
to schedule an orientation. Orientations are typically offered every Thursday from
12:30-2:00 p.m. It is helpful to bring a Social Security card, a birth certificate,
a picture ID, and verification of withdrawal from your most recently attended school
(e.g., transcript).
Your Opportunity to Transition for Free to Community College
We will assist you in your transition to Shoreline Community College's Career Education Options, a free-of-charge program that supports youth who have never attended college in
enrolling and succeeding in all of Shoreline's professional and technical degree programs
through the age of 21.
Partnerships
Learning Center North was developed as a partnership of Shoreline Community College,
the King County Work Training Program, and the Monroe School District. Shoreline Community College is dedicated to student
success and meeting the individual needs of all students. The KCWTP has served youth
for over thirty years, and offers a diverse range of programs, specializing in helping
youth become more employable.
