SCC Names Jason Shaw At "Baseball Player of the Week":
Shoreline Community College Named Jason Shaw at the "Baseball Player of the Week" on Tuesday.

DSC_8841.JPGShaw, a sophomore from Lynnwood High School in Lynnwood, WA, tossed a complete game 7 hitter on Sunday against the #8th ranked team in the NWAACC, Edmonds Community College, as the Dolphins split a four game series with EDCC and put themselves in contention for a playoff spot in the NWAACC Northern Region for the first time in many years.

Jason pitched 9 innings, allowed 7 hits, with 7 strikeouts, 3 walks and one earned run in the 5-1 SCC win. Shaw moved his season record to 7-1 and lowered his ERA to 1.92. The 7 wins ties him with 3 others for the most wins in the NWAACC and he is in the top 20 (17) in ERA.

SCC faces Skagit Valley College this weekend in a crucial NWAACC Northern Region series for both teams, as SVC is in 4th place in the region, with SCC one game behind them, tied for 5th with Bellevue College. The top four teams in the region go to the Northern Region tournament. SCC is 18-16 overall, 6-10 in the region. SVC will come into the series with a 16-14 record and 7-9 in the region. Douglas College is in 3rd place, 8-8 in region and within 2 games of SCC.

SCC Baseball Splits With Edmonds CC - In Contention For Northern Region Playoffs
The Shoreline Community College Baseball Team split a doubleheader with Edmonds Community College on Sunday at Meridian Park in Shoreline, WA, losing the first game 3-1 in extra innings and winning the second game 5-1. With the four game split against the #8 ranked team, EDCC, SCC moved into contention for the NWAACC Northern Region Playoffs.

300_5729.JPGOnly 2 games separate 3rd place and 5th place. Currently, Douglas College is in third place with a 8-8 region mark, Skagit Valley is in 4th place with a 7-9 record and SCC and Bellevue College are tied for 5th place with 6-10 records. The top four teams make the region playoffs. There are two more weekends left to the season, with each team in contention playing 8 more region games. SCC plays Skagit Valley this weekend and finishes with last place Olympic College.

Game 1: The game was a pitching dual between SCC's Nic Van Der Ven and Edmonds Kevin Sheets for 4 innings with neither team scoring. EDCC moved ahead in the top of the 5th with a single run. SCC tied it up in the bottom of the 7th (7 inning game) and had the winning run on second with 1 out and 3rd with two outs, but could not score. Edmonds scored two runs in the top of 8th to win the game as SCC could not answer in the bottom of the inning.

Game 2: SCC's Jason Shaw was dominant and ran his record for theDSC_8841.JPG year to 7-1. Shaw spread 7 hits over 9 innings and struckout 7 with 3 walks. The Dolphins pounded out 12 hits and scored three runs in the first two innings that Edmonds could not answer, with Josh Fitch leading the way with 3 hits including a double. Skyler Frasier and Mitch Hoveke added two hits each. Frasier had 2 RBIs and Hoveke scored two runs. 

SCC is now 18-16 overall and 6-10 in the NWAACC Northern Region. SCC travels to Skagit Valley College on Saturday to play the Cardinals at 1:00pm. The Dolphins return home on Sunday to play Skagit Valley at Meridian Park at 3:00pm.
SCC Baseball Splits With Edmonds CC On Saturday:
The Shoreline Community College Baseball Team split a doubleheader with Edmonds Community College on Saturday at the Edmonds CC Sports Complex. SCC won the opener, 4-3 and dropped the nightcap, 9-4.

300_5524.JPGIn Game 1, SCC jumped out to a 3-0 lead in the first inning and held it until the bottom of the 5th when Edmonds tied the game. SCC went ahead again in the top of the 6th with a run and held-on to win the 7 inning game, 4-3. Henry McAree got the win for SCC in a complete game, striking 6 while allowing 8 hits and 1 walk. 
Kainoa Ahsing-Kaahanui had four RBIs on two hits including his 12th double of the year. Luke Merkel had 2 hits as well, including a double and scored 2 runs.

In Game 2, Edmonds pounded SCC pitching for 18 hits in the 9-4 defeat300_5470.JPG for the Dolphins. Kainoa Ahsing-Kaahanui had 2 hits and 3 RBIs in the game with another double and Merkel again had two hits as well. Leonel Delmar had a double. Layton Bush picked up the loss for SCC on the mound.

Shoreline goes to 17-15-1 on the year and 5-9 in the region. Edmonds is 21-13 overall and 12-6 in the region. Both teams play again today at Meridian Park in Shoreline at 3:00pm in a doubleheader.
SCC Names Jason Shaw and Layton Bush As Co-Baseball Players of the Week
Shoreline Community College Announced on Wednesday that sophomore pitchers, Jason Shaw and Layton Bush were named Co-Baseball Players of the Week.

DSC_8841.JPGShaw, a sophomore right hand pitcher from Lynnwood High School in Lynnwood, WA, tossed a 7 inning one hitter against Douglas College (7-0 win) at Meridian Park on Sunday. He had 1 strikeout with 1 walk. Shaw has a 6-1 record on the season with a 2.08 ERA. Jason is tied for 2nd in the NWAACC for wins on the season with 6.

Bush pitched a 9 inning 2 hitter against Douglas College on Monday (rain out date from Saturday), allowing one unearned run in300_5470.JPG   the 5-1 victory. Bush struck out 5 and allowed 3 walks. Bush is 3-4 on the season but has a 2.17 ERA. 

SCC is 16-14-1 on the season and 4-6 in the NWAACC Northern Region. SCC faces Edmonds Community College this weekend in a four game NWAACC Northern Region series. SCC is tied for 5th in the league, just 2 games out of 4th place (final play-off spot) in the win column. Game times at 1:00pm on Saturday at Edmonds CC and 3:00pm at Meridian Park on Sunday.
SCC Baseball Splits Doubleheader With Douglas College
The Shoreline Community College Baseball Team traveled to British Columbia on Monday to make up a NWAACC Northern Region doubleheader that was rained out on Saturday and came back with a split, dropping the first game 3-2 and wining the 2nd 5-1.

300_5524.JPGIn Game 1, SCC pitcher Henry McAree (3-1) pitched well, just giving up three hits and striking out 6, but Douglas made their hits and the four walks they earned count, as they beat SCC 3-2. SCC rallied in the top of 7th, down 3-0 to make it 3-2, but the rally fell short in the 7 inning game. Connor King was 2 for 2 batting and Kainoa Ahsing-Kaahanui had the 2 SCC RBIs.

In Game 2, Layton Bush (3-4) pitched a 2 hitter over 9 innings as SCC won the game 5-1. The run that Bush gave up was unearned. Luke Merkel was 3 for 3 with a double. stole 3 bases and scored 2 runs in the game. Kainoa Ahsing-Kaahanui was 2 for 2 batting with a RBI and 300_5470.JPG  Mitch Hoveke hit a 2 RBI double.

SCC moved its record to 16-14-1 overall and 4-6 in the NWAACC Northern Region. Douglas is now 10-10 overall and 7-5 in the region. 

SCC plays rival Edmonds Community College on Saturday and Sunday next weekend in a four game NWAACC Northern Region Series. EDCC is in 2nd place in the region, with a 20-12 overall record and 11-5 in the region. The doubleheader starts at 1:00pm on Saturday at Edmonds and 3:00pm at Meridian Park on Sunday.

The Shoreline Community College Baseball Team split a doubleheader with Douglas College on Sunday at Meridian Park.

300_5524.JPGIn Game 1, SCC jumped out to a 6-0 in the first inning and rode the 1 hit pitching of Jason Shaw. Kainoa Ahsing-Kaahanui had a homerun for SCC and Danny Cavanaugh had 3 RBIs on two hits to lead SCC. Shaw had 1 walk and struck out 1 on the mound to run his record to 6-1 on the season.

In Game 2, Douglas broke open a close game (SCC leading 3-2) in the 7th inning with 5 runs and then sealed the game with 4 more runs in the 9th to beat SCC 11-3. Both teams had 10 hits, but two SCC errors lead to 5 runs and DC had 3 doubles and a homerun in the game for the win.

SCC will travel to Douglas College today to play the rained out doubleheader from Saturday. Game time is 1:00pm in Vancouver.

SCC is now 15-13-1 on the season and 3-7 in the Northern Region. Douglas goes to 9-9 on the year and 6-4 in the region
SCC Names Jason Shaw and Kainoa Ahsing-Kaahanui As Co-Baseball Players of the Week
Shoreline Community College On Thursday named sophomores Jason Shaw and Kainoa Ahsing-Kaahanui as Co-Baseball Players of the Week for April 8-14.

DSC_8841.JPGShaw, a pitcher from Lynnwood High School, pitched a 4 hitter against Bellevue College, allowing 1 run in 7 innings for a complete game victory. Shaw stuckout 2 and allowed 1 walk. Jason has a 5-1 record on the season with 4.20 ERA.

Kainoa Ahsing-Kaahanui, a first baseball from Alea High School in Hawaii, had 6 hits in 14 at-bats in the four game series with Bellevue College over the weekend with 2 doubles, 4300_0056.JPG RBIs and 1 run scored. He drove in the winning run in the bottom of 10th inning to sweep Bellevue for the first time in a doubleheader in recent memory.

SCC is now 14-12-1 on the season, 2-6 in the NWAACC Northern Region. SCC faces Douglas College this weekend in a four game Northern Region series. First two games are at Douglas College in Vancouver, BC on Saturday at 1:00pm, and then SCC hosts DC in a doubleheader at Meridian Park on Sunday, starting at 3:00pm.
SCC Baseball Drops Non-Region Game To Everett CC 7-6
The Dolphin Baseball Team dropped a 7-6 game to Everett Community College on Wednesday night at Memorial Stadium in Everett, WA.

300_5460.JPGSCC jumped out in front with a single run in the first inning, but EVCC rallied back for 5 runs in the bottom of the third. SCC then tied the game with 2 runs in the 4th and 5th innings, but EVCC moved back ahead with single runs in the 5th and 6th. SCC closed it to one run in the top of the 9th, but EVCC shut down the rally and won 7-6.

Connor King led the SCC offense with a 3 for 5 night at the plate, Luke Merkel had two hits including a double, Josh Fitch scored two runs and Kainoa Ahsing-Kaahanui had 2 RBIs. SCC out-hit Everett 10-7. 

SCC pitched the game by committee, with 6 pitchers throwing, but Aaron Rose (0-2) picked up the loss. SCC pitching did give up 10 walks in the game. with 8 strikeouts.

V6 Baseball.jpgThree SCC Baseball Games are now on YouTube, the 12-2 loss in the completion of the suspended game from the day before, plus the SCC Sweep of Bellevue in its home doubleheader, the first sweep of Bellevue College Baseball in recent memory, as the Dolphins won 5-1 and 5-4 in 10 innings.

SCC Baseball Takes 2 Out Of Three From Bellevue College On Sunday
DSC_8836.JPGThe Shoreline CC Baseball Team won 2 of 3 games against Bellevue College played on Sunday at Meridian Park. 

In Game 1, the conclusion of the "Hailed" out game from Saturday at Bellevue College, the Dolphins fell to the Bulldogs 12-2 in eight innings and SCC could never overcome the 4-0 lead BC had built on Saturday.

In Game 2, Jason Shaw(5-1) pitched a four hitter in SCC's 5-1 victory and  Kainoai Ahsing-Kanhanui had 2 hits including a double to lead the Dolphins offense. The Dolphins took full advantage of 2 errors and 4 BC walks in the game to combine with 6 hits to win. Shoreline also stole 3 bases in the game.

In Game 3, SCC overcame a 3-0 deficient in the first inning to win 5-4300_5524.JPG in 10 innings. SCC scored 2 in the 2nd, 1 in 5th and 1 in the 7th to tie the game at 4-4. In the bottom of the 10, Luke Merkel reached first baseball to leadoff the inning, stole 2nd for the third time of the game and then Kainoai Ahsing-Kanhanui doubled to the opposite field to drive in the winning run. Henry McAree(3-0) picked up the win for SCC with four innings of scoreless relief, allowing 1 hit and one walk with 4 strikeouts.

SCC goes to 14-10-1 on the season, 2-6 in the NWAACC Northern Region. Bellevue falls to 16-11 and 6-6 in the region. Shoreline takes on Douglas College next weekend in an NWAACC Northern Region 4 game series, with games 1 & 2 to play  in Vancouver, BC on Saturday and back to Meridian Park on Sunday for games 3 & 4 starting at 3:00pm.

SCC Baseball Drops Game 1 of 4 Game Series With Bellevue:

300_5729.JPGThe Dolphins opened their four game series with Bellevue College on Saturday with an 8-1 loss to the Bulldogs. Game 2 was stopped in the 3rd inning with Bellevue up 4-0. That game will be completed today at 1:00pm at Meridian Park before the regularly schedule doubleheader SCC home doubleheader begins 30 minutes after Game 2 is completed.

In Game 1, Bellevue jumped out to a 2-0 lead in the bottom of the first and held that head until the top of 5th, when SCC cut it to 2-1. But the Bulldogs roared back with 6 runs in the bottom of 5th and took control of the 7 inning game, to win 8-1.

Mitch Hoveke and Chris Hall lead the SCC team with 2 hits each, with Hall having a double. Moveke had the lone SCC RBI. Aaron Rose (0-1) took the loss on the mound for SCC.

SCC fell to 12-10-1 on the season and 0-5 in the NWAACC Northern Region. Bellevue is now 15-9 and 5-4. The 1:00pm game today will be the completion of a 9 inning game, the 3:00pm game is 7 innings, followed by another 9 inning game for the nightcap.

Luke Merkel Named SCC Baseball Player of the Week

Shoreline Community College on Tuesday named Luke Merkel as the SCC Baseball Player of the Week for April 1-7.

300_5602.JPGMerkel, a freshman outfielder from Southridge High School in Beaverton, OR, was 9 for 23 in six games for the Dolphins with 5 runs scored and 4 RBIs. He had 1 double and 4 stolen bases in the six games and was hit by one pitch.

SCC went 2-4 on the week, sweeping the Western Washington University Club Team but then being swept themselves in a four game set to open NWAACC Northern Region play by Everett Community College, the #2 ranked school in the NWAACC.

SCC is now 12-9-1 on the year and 0-4 in the region. SCC returns to action this weekend with a four game series with Bellevue College, playing at Bellevue on Saturday and returning home to Meridian Park at 3:00pm on Sunday.

The SCC Dolphin Baseball Team dropped two home games on Sunday to Everett Community College at Meridian Park. 

300_5729.JPGIn Game 1, the Dolphins found themselves down 7-0 after 4 innings and tried to mount a comeback late, scoring 2 in the 6th and two more in the 7th, leaving the bases loaded in their final at bat (7 inning game) when the final out was recorded. The Dolphins struggled at the plate, only having 4 hits and committing 3 errors. Josh Fitch led SCC with 2 hits and 2 RBIs. Layton Bush (2-3) took the loss for SCC.

In Game 2, again the SCC bats were mostly silent, collecting only 5 hits in a 9 inning game with Danny Cavanaugh the only Dolphin with two hits. Ben Parker (1-2) took the loss on the mound for SCC.

SCC is now 12-7-1 on the season and 0-4 in the NWAACC Northern Region. Everett moves to 19-5 on the year and 7-1 in the region. SCC plays Bellevue College next weekend in a four game Northern Region series. Games 1 & 2 will be at Bellevue College on Saturday, starting at 1:00pm and Games 3 & 4 are on Sunday at Meridian Park in Shoreline with a start time of 3:00pm.

SCC Baseballs Drops Two Games To Everett CC On Saturday:

The Shoreline Community College Baseball Team dropped two games to the #2 Ranked Everett Community College Trojans on Saturday at Everett Stadium by the scores of 2-0, 8-6.

In Game 1, SCC ace Jason Shaw pitched well, allowing only 2 earned runs in 6 innings, but EVCC pitcher Greg Swanson pitched better, allowing just 4 hits with 5 strikeouts. SCC 2nd baseball, Beau Vintertun had a double for the Dolphins, but SCC could only muster 3 other singles on the day.

In Game 2, but offensives game alive and the game swung back and forth. EVCC lead 4-1 after three innings, but SCC came back to take 6-4 lead after 5 innings. The Trojans put up 4 runs in the bottom of 6th to the lead 8-6 and held to win from there.  Kainoai
Ahsing-Kanhanui hit his first homerun of the season plus a double for SCC and had 4 RBIs and 2 runs scored to lead SCC batting.  Luke Merkel and Danny Cavanaugh both had 2 hits as well with Cavanaugh adding another double. Nick Van Der Ven took the loss for SCC.

SCC is now 12-7-1 on the season and 0-2 in the NWAACC Northern Region. EVCC moved to 17-5 on the season and 5-1 in the league. Both teams play again today at Meridian Park in Shoreline, WA at 3:00pm, weather permitting.
SCC Baseball Sweeps Western Washington Club Team 6-2 and 14-5
The Dolphin Baseball Team swept the Western Washington University Club Team on Tuesday in Bellihgham, WA by the scores of 6-2 and 14-5.

300_9904.JPGIn the Game 1, a 14-5 win, Mitch Hoveke had 4 hits including a double and scored three runs while Luke Merkel added 3 hits with 3 RBIs,  Connor King had 2 hits with 3 RBIs and Josh Fitch had 2 hits, scored 2 runs and had 2 RBIs as the SCC offense pounded out 15 hits in the game. SCC used 4 pitchers in the game with Ben Parker getting the win as the starter.

In Game 2, Nic Van Der Ven and Aaron Rose combined on a 7 hitter on the mound and Luke Merkel had 2 hits including a double with a run scored and a RBI to lead SCC to a 6-2 win. 

SCC is now 12-5-1 on the season and opens NWAACC Northern Region play this weekend against the #1 Ranked team in the NWAACC, Everett Community College. EVCC is also ranked #3 for the Pacific Coast (including all community colleges in Washington, Oregon and California). The four game series starts at Memorial Stadium in Everett on Saturday at 1:00pm for two games and then moves to Meridian Park in Shoreline at 3:00pm on Sunday in the final dbouleheader. Everett is 15-5 on the season and 3-1 in the Northern Region after taking 3 our to 4 games from Skagit Valley College last weekend.
