What is substance abuse? 

It is harmful or dangerous use of alcohol or other drugs. 

 

Substance abuse:

• affects all types of people - male and female, young and old, in the classroom or on the job. Anyone can have a problem with substance abuse. 
• can be prevented or treated. Professionals can treat problems that exist now - and people working together can prevent problems from occurring in the future.
