SCC Announces Final Men's and Women's Tennis Players of the Week
The Shoreline Community College Athletic Department announced the final Men's and Women's Tennis Players of the Year for 2012.

For the SCC Women's Team, sophomore Mandy Lam was selected the final Player of the Week as she finished third at the NWAACC Tennis Championship. Lam loss her opening round match, but she came back to win 2 matches and actually revenge her opening round loss to Treasure Valley CC, to claim the 3rd place trophy.

On the SCC Men's Team side, Freshman Alex Casper had an excellent NWAACC Championship, as he claimed the #2 Flight Singles Championship and won the NWAACC #1 Flight Doubles Championship with partner Yassar Khan. Alex did not lose a match at the championship, going 4-0 in combined singles and doubles and play.

Also, SCC Tennis Coach Ray Bachmann was named the "Coach of the Year" for NWAACC Men's Tennis.

Mandy Lam Finishes Third At NWAACC Tennis Championship:

Sophomore Mandy Lam finished 3rd in #1 Singles as the Lady Dolphins struggled at the NWAACC Women's Tennis Championship.

Lam lost her first match at the tournament but came back to win two straight to finish third.

The other Lady Dolphins lost all of their matches at the tournament, as SCC brought a team full of freshmen and beginning players except for Lam.

SCC Men's Tennis Wins NWAACC Titles at #1 Doubles, #2 Singles and Coach Ray Bachmann is Coach of the Year:

The SCC Men's Tennis Team finished 3rd at the NWAACC Tournament, as Yassar Khan and Alex Casper won the NWAACC Doubles Championship and Alex Casper won the #2 Singles Title. Favored Yassar Khan was upset in the #1 Singles Final and finished 2nd in the NWAACC.

SCC Men's Coach, Ray Bachmann was named the NWAACC's Men's Tennis Coach of the Year.

Freshman Alex Casper has been named the SCC Men's Tennis Player of the Week.

Casper from Bothell, WA, was dominate from his #2 seed position as he defeated the #2 players from CC of Spokane and Treasure Valley CC 6-2, 6-0 and 6-2, 6-1. 

Casper and SCC's #1 Player, Yassar Khan won both of their doubles matches, 3-6, 6-2, 6-3 against Spokane and 7-5, 6-0 against Treasure Valley.

SCC is now 3-2 on the season and complete an earlier match with Skagit Valley College on Friday at 1:00 PM and end the regular season hosting the Western Washington University Club team on Sunday at 10:00 AM.

SCC Athletics Names Mandy Lam As Tennis Players of the Week:

Shoreline Community College Athletic Department named Mandy Lam as the Women's Tennis Player of the Week.

Lam a sophomore player from Dayton, TX, won two matches over the weekend in Spokane, WA. SCC's #1 seeded beat the #1 player from the Community College of Spokane, 7-6 (7-5 in tiebreaker) and 6-0 and the #1 player from Treasure Valley CC from Oregon, 6-3, 6-2. The victory over Spokane is the first one in recent memory over a player from the CC of Spokane.

As a team, SCC dropped both matches 1-8 and ran their record to 0-7 for the season. SCC will host Skagit Valley College on Friday, to complete a rain shorten match back in early April. SCC finishes the season on Sunday, with a match against the club team from Western Washington University at 10:00 AM.

SCC Men's Tennis Goes 1-1 and Women's Tennis 0-2 at CC of Spokane Over Weekend:

The Shoreline Community College Men's Tennis Team beat Treasure Valley College over the weekend and dropped a match to the CCs of Spokane while the SCC Women's Tennis Team dropped both matches to Treasure Valley and Spokane, but SCC's Mandy Lam was impressive for the Lady Dolphins.

On the men's side, SCC beat Treasure Valley by the score of 7-2. TVCC was playing short handed with only 4 players and SCC was ahead 3-0 before the match started. SCC went 4-2 in the matches played with SCC winning at #1 Doubles, and #1, 2 and 4 Singles.

SCC dropped a 6-3 match to the Community Colleges of Spokane, but SCC did dominant at the higher seeds, with #1 & #2, and #1 Doubles winning, but Spokane's depth prevailing in the match.

The Lady Dolphins dropped 8-1 matches with Treasure Valley and Spokane, with SCC's #1 Player, Mandy Lam winning both of her matches. SCC was without their #6 player on the trip and had to forfeit #6 singles and #3 doubles each match.

The SCC Men's Team is 3-2 on the season while the Lady Dolphins are 0-6.

SCC finishes its rain suspended match with Skagit Valley College on Friday at 1:00 PM at Shoreview Park and finishes the regular season on Sunday against the Western Washington University Club Team at 10:00 AM at Shoreview Park as well.
