* Lady Dolphins End Season With a Win

hooyman1.jpgAfter a slow start, the Lady Dolphins opened a 14 point half-time lead and never gave it up in the second half as they went on to be Peninsula College 74-53, the second highest point total for SCC in the season.

 

Gnanamani Hooyman led SCC with 22 points, while Kylie Williams followed closely with 21 points.

 

SCC finished the season 7-17 on the season, 3-13 in the NWAACC Northern Region. Peninsula finished 2-14 in the region and 5-20 overall.

 

Shoreline said good-bye to four sophomores, Kylie Williams, Yan Tsoi Hoi, Andrea Schneider and Lynsey Sandum.

* Lady Dolphin Basketball Team Breaks 11 Game Losing Streak Against Rival Edmonds CC

The Shoreline Community College women’s basketball team beat Edmonds Community College on Monday night in the SCC gym by the score of 65-59 to break an 11 game losing streak.

 

SCC was down 29-26 at half-time, but stayed close during the second kyliewilliams.jpghalf, as both teams could not find a consistent offense.  Kylie Williams scored 28 for the Lady Dolphins, as she took control of the game in the later stages, hitting 8 of 10 free throws down the stretch. Gnanamani Hooyman added 12 for SCC before going down with and ankle injury late in the games.

 

SCC is now 6-16 on the season, 2-12 in the NWAACC Northern Region. The Dolphins play their last home game of the season on Wednesday night in the SCC Gym at 5:30 PM, in the athletic homecoming game. SCC will face Peninsula College. Edmonds drops to 10-12 overall and 6-8 in the region.

* SCC Women’s Basketball Drops Game To Skagit Valley

The Lady Dolphin losing streak continues as SCC lost to Northern Region leader Skagit Valley College 85-53 on Saturday afternoon in the SCC Gym, to extend their losing streak to 9 games. SCC started the year off 5-5 and 1-1 in the region, but have not won game since starting forward Lynsey Sandum broke her ankle 9 games ago.

 

tess.jpgTess Cathey led the Dolphins with 17 points, Jenny Voss added 13 and Gnanamani Hooyman scored 12.

 

The Lady Cardinals push out to a 52-24 lead at half-time, as Dolphins only shot 28% on the half against 49% for Skagit. SCC played a much better second half, being outscored only 33-29.

 

Shoreline plays next week on the road at North Seattle on Wednesday night and Whatcom CC next Saturday. Skagit pushes it league leading record to 11-1 in the region and 18-4 overall.
