SCC Volleyball Defeats Edmonds CC 3-1 Behind The Kills of Garcia and Denim:

The Shoreline Community College Volleyball Team defeated Edmonds CC on Friday night in the SCC Gym behind the "Kills" of Emily Denim and Arianna Garcia. Denim had 15 and Garcia 14 to lead SCC to a 25-18, 16-25, 25-12, and 25-14 win.

Jalyn Anderson has 41 assists from her setter position and Lauren Deatrick led the team in digs with 16.

SCC moves to 6-9 on the season and 2-1 in the NWAACC Northern Region. Edmonds drops to 3-9 on the year and 1-3 in the region.

The Lady Dolphins takes-on Whatcom CC on Wednesday night at the SCC Gym at 7:00pm in another Northern Region match-up.

SCC Names Arianna Garcia "Volleyball Player of the Week"
Freshman Arianna Garcia has been named the Shoreline Community DSC_5787x.jpgCollege Volleyball Player of the Week for her performance during the week of September 17-23. 

The Lady Dolphins went 1-1 for the week, defeating Skagit Valley College 3-0 last Wednesday, but dropping a 0-3 match to Olympic College on Friday night. Garcia, a freshman from Lynnwood High School, had 9 kills in the losing effort against OC and led SCC on offense against Skagit Valley.

SCC Volleyball is 4-9 on the season and 1-1 in the NWAACC Northern Region. SCC faces arch rival Edmonds Community College on Friday night in the SCC Gym at 7:00pm. The game can be "Live" online on FX Video at:http://www.livestream.com/fx_video

SCC Volleyball Drops 3-0 Page To Olympic College On Friday Night
The Lady Dolphin Volleyball Team dropped a 3-0 match to Olympic College on Friday night in Bremerton, WA. SCC lost 25-18,25-23,25-11 to the Rangers. 

SCC is now 4-9 on the season, 1-1 in the NWAACC Northern Region. Olympic improved to 16-5 overall and 2-0 in the region.

SCC faces rival Edmonds Community College on Friday, September 28 in the SCC Gym at 7:00pm

Shawna Pung Named SCC Volleyball Player of the Week
Shoreline Community College Athletic Department announced today that Shawna Pung was named the "Volleyball Player of the Week" for September 10-17.

At the NWAACC Crossover Tournament in Spokane, WA last Friday and Saturday, Pung had 49 kills for the tournament, 11 service aces, 16 blocks and 52 digs in 5 matches. SCC went 1-4 in the tournament.

The Lady Dolphin Volleyball Team is 4-8 on the season, 1-0 in the NWAACC Northern Region and will face Olympic College on Friday night in Bremerton, WA in an NWAACC Northern Region match-up. SCC is 0-2 against OC in tournament matches so far this year, but neither of those matches counted in region standings. OC is 13-5 on the year and 1-0 in the region as well.

SCC Volleyball Routs Skagit Valley College 3-0 on Wednesday Night In Northern Region Opener
The struggling Lady Dolphin Volleyball Team on Wednesday night caught fire and routed the Skagit Valley College Cardinals in Mt. Vernon, WA 3-0.

The Dolphins won 25-22, 25-15 and 25-9 in the opening Northern Region match for both teams.

SCC improved its record to 4-8 overall and 1-0 in the region. SVC falls to 3-8 and 0-1. SCC plays at Olympic College on Friday night in Bremerton, WA at 7:00pm.

SCC Volleyball Goes 1-4 At NWAACC Crossover

The Shoreline Community College Volleyball Team started the NWAACC Crossover hosted by the CCs of Spokane on a good note, defeating Clackamas Community College 3-1, but then the Dolphins dropped their next 4 matches,  two to  Columbia Basin College and Olympic College to end the first day of competition and then two more on Saturday to Pierce College and Umpqua Community College to end the tournament.

 

SCC beat Clackamas 25-22, 15-25, 27-25 and 25-15 but dropped the next two matches in straight sets on Friday to CBC 25-14,25-20,25-22 and to Northern Region rival Olympic 25-15,25-15 ,25-17.

 

SCC began bracket play on Saturday with a 0-3 loss to Pierce, 22-25, 8-25, 20-25 and then loss a tough 5 set match to Umpqua, 27-25, 22-25, 16-25, 25-20, 9-15.

 

The Lady Dolphins dropped their overall record to 3-8 on the season.

 

SCC will open NWAACC Northern Region play next Wednesday at Skagit Valley College at 7:00pm and return home against rival Edmonds Community College on September 28th.

SCC's Emily Denham Named SCC Volleyball Player of the Week:
The SCC Athletic Department named Emily Denham as the first SCC Volleyball Player of the Week for her outstanding play during the week of September 3-9.

SCC went 1-4 during the week, as the Lady Dolphins opened with a loss to Highline Community College and then 1-3 in the HCC tournament that weekend.

But Emily played well both on the offense and defense for the Dolphins.

SCC Women's Volleyball Routs Northwest Indian College:
The Shoreline Community College's Women's Volleyball Team pounded Northwest Indian College on Tuesday night in the SCC Gym. The Dolphins won the match in three straight sets, 25-6, 25-4, 25-6.

The Eagles of NWIC were outclassed in this match-up and the Lady Dolphins needed a confidence booster after a 1-4 start on the season and a trip to Spokane next weekend to play in the NWAACC Crossover Tournament there.

SCC is now 2-4 on the season and start play in Spokane on Friday.

Lady Dolphin Volleyball Goes 1-3 At Highline Tournament
The Shoreline Community College Volleyball Team went 1-3 at the Highline Community College Volleyball Tournament over the weekend. 

On Saturday, SCC dropped a 25-17, 25-16 match to Tacoma Community College to finish pool play 1-2 and then was matched against Northern Region rival, Bellevue College in the first round of pool play, but dropped a 25-19, 25-13 match to the Bulldogs to be eliminated out of the tournament.

The loss pushes the Dolphins to a 1-4 record overall, as the two time defending region champions are suffering through the growing pains of 8 new freshmen players on the team.

The Lady Dolphins play their first home game of the season on Tuesday night in the SCC Gym at 7:00pm vs Northwest Indian College. The match ends a triple header of action, as the SCC soccer teams play Trinity Lutheran that afternoon at the Dolphin Soccer Field on the SCC campus.

The Lady Dolphins Volleyball Team Drops 3-0 Match to Highline CC
The Shoreline Community College Volleyball Team drops a 3-0 match to Highline Community College last night at the HCC Gym. Set scores were 25-15, 25-19 and 25-16.

The Dolphins played well at the start of each set, but allowed the Thunder to pull away in the middle part of each set. SCC led a couple of times in the middle of the 3rd set, but the Thunder shut down the 
SCC offense and won that game and the match.

SCC was led by freshman Emily Denham with 5 kills and Lauren Dietrick, the lone SCC sophomore, with 4 kills.

Highline improved to 2-3 on the season while SCC opened the season at 0-1.

The Lady Dolphins travel back to Highline CC on Friday and Saturday for the Highline CC Tournament and face Treasure Valley CC at Noon and Olympic College at 3:00pm on Friday. SCC faces Tacoma CC at 10am on Saturday morning, before bracket play begins.
