Shoreline Drops Two in Tournament Pool Play

300_5810s.jpg

The Shoreline CC Dolphin Volleyball Team did not get the start they were hoping to in the Dorian Harris Halloween Classic in Mt. Hood, Oregon. The Dolphins drop both matches in pool play.

The first game of the day was against Walla Walla. Shoreline could not seem to keep up with the Warriors who are ranked 2nd in the Eastern Region. This sophomore studded team has only lost two region games this year.

Shoreline's second loss of the day came from Chemeketa whom the Dolphins had previously beaten in the Shoreline Crossover Tournament a few weeks ago. This was a very close match.

Shoreline pushes on and still has a chance to take home the Champions Trophy. The Dolphins are currently taking on Whatcom. The Dolphins defeated Whatcom earlier in the season but we will see later how they match up today. Stay posted with all the tournament results at the NWAACC Volleyball results page.

The Dolphins are competing in the Dorian Harris Halloween Classic today and tomorrow in Mt. Hood Oregon. Their first game will be on Friday, October 26th at 2:00pm against Walla Walla. Be sure to stay tuned to keep up with all of the latest Dolphin news.

Shoreline Community College Volleyball Pulls Off a Close Win At Edmonds Community College

Wednesday was another solid performance for SCC Dolphin Volleyball against Edmonds Community College. In the tight match up SCC pulled out a win the four sets. Starting with very solid serving from Freshman players Elena Estrada with 4 straight points at a critical part of the first set. Later in the second set Emily Dunham hit 7 straight points.300_5810s.jpg

However, it was the off the bench play of Sierra Ernst serving and hitting that provided the emotional and mental performance that made the Dolphins a complete team. Ernst played for the team Captain and only Sophomore Lauren Deatrick who was sick. Although Deatrick was at the match cheering for her teammates could not play nor has she been able to practice the last 3 days.

"It is a huge thing to come into a game and play without pressure and have fun like Sierra did tonight, she is a real big part of our success this year and especially tonight," says Shoreline Community College Assistant Coach Mark West.

Shoreline now has a record of 11-14 and is looking strong for the upcoming NWAACC Volleyball Conference Championship. This weekend the Dolphins will be traveling to Mt. Hood Oregon for the Annual Dorian Harris Halloween Classic. Their first game will be on Friday, October 26th at 2:00pm against Walla Walla.

Lady Dolphins Volleyball Defeats Everett CC 3-0
The Shoreline Community College Volleyball Team took care of business on Friday night in Everett, beating the EVCC Trojans 3-0 and moving into a tie with Olympic College for 2nd place in the NWAACC Northern Region.

300_3028s.jpgThe Dolphins won the match 25-15, 25-20 and 25-18 to run their region record to 4-1 and their overall record to 7-9. SCC is tied with Olympic for second place now, but OC does have a 3-0 victory over SCC earlier in the region schedule.

SCC plays region leading Bellevue College on Wednesday night at Bellevue. The Bulldogs are 5-0 in the region and 17-6 overall. BC defeated Olympic last night, 3-0, to take over first place.

The Lady Dolphins come home next week to host the NWAACC Crossover Tournament in the SCC Gym. 7 other NWAACC schools will be in the tournament.

SCC Volleyball Plays At Everett Community College Tonight
300_2927s.jpgThe Lady Dolphins travel a few miles north this evening to face the Trojans from Everett Community College. SCC is riding a modest 2 match winning streak, but both wins are in the NWAACC Northern Region and the victories pushed the team's region record to 3-1 and have locked them in a strong 3rd place position with 2 matches left in the first half of the region schedule. The top four reams in the region advance to the NWAACC Volleyball Championship in November.

Everett comes into the match with a 2-10 overall record, but a 2-3 record in the region, which is good for 4th place, so a SCC win will put the Dolphins into a full 3 game lead over ECC in the loss column for 3rd place.

Both Olympic College and Bellevue College lead the NWAACC Northern Region with 4-0 records. Both of those teams play tonight at Bellevue. SCC will be tied for second in the league with a victory tonight; with which ever team loses between OC and BC. Olympic has beaten SCC already in the first half of the season and SCC travels to Bellevue on Wednesday to complete the first half of the region schedule. So the region standings and the playoff picture should be clearer after the next two matches for the Dolphins.

The win pushed SCC to 2-1 in the region and into 3rd place for the Northern Region. The Dolphins are 5-9 overall and face Whatcom Community College (2-8, 1-2) on Wednesday night in the SCC Gym in another key NWAACC Northern Region match as Shoreline attempts to put distance between themselves and the other teams below them in the region, as the top four teams in the region make the NWAACC Championship in November.
